CALL FOR FILMS
Biennial Conference of the Finnish Anthropological Society 2019
On Time
Helsinki, August 29 – 30, 2019
The call for films is now closed.
The Finnish Anthropological Society (FAS) invites documentary film submissions to be screened during its Biennial Conference in Helsinki from the 29 – 30 August 2019 (see conference website here).
The 2019 Film Programme aims to feature content that engages with different ways in which imaginaries and practices of time are rendered and generated through cinema. We seek anthropologically informed works that, through their content or form, demonstrate the temporal qualities of the cinematic experience. We also seek films that engage with time as a subject of inquiry.
Further Particulars:
Films that are not in English must be subtitled to English.
We will only consider submissions completed after January 2017.
The Call for Films closes on 30th May 2019.
Film-makers and other staff connected to the production are encouraged to attend for the discussion that will follow each screening.
This film programme will be a part of the broader Finnish Anthropology Conference which will investigate similar themes in 20 panels. The keynote speaker of the conference is Ghassan Hage and the 2019 Edvard Westermarck memorial lecture will be given by Laura Bear on the eve of the conference (August 28)
